I purchased the Dragon quad 12” subs. The sound is “MAD MAX AT THE THUNDER DOME”! We started off at 25 and the bass rattled nick nacks off the shelves in the room! Same thing at 20! It sounded to encapsulating to go any lower so we felted the items! The sound will absolutely not disappoint you!!! There were times when I was literally holding my breath because the sound vibrations made me feel in the scene and other times we could feel them literally! The system ROCKS!

I purchased a Dragon system to replace my Shockwafe system. There is a huge improvement in the sound quality from the previous system and it's well worth the upgrade. Very impressed with the voice clarity and strong bass that was missing before.

I am extremely pleased with my Dragon System(Soundbar, 2 Surrounds, 4 12” Subs)! My great room is very large around 1,800 square feet with 12 foot ceilings, large windows throughout and the primary seating position is 22 feet from the Soundbar. My prior Sonos System(Arc Ultra, 2 Sub 4’s, 2 Era 300’s) just did not have enough power and depth to work well in this space, whereas the Dragon has a ton of power to easily fill the space and with great overall clarity. While I had no issues setting up the system, I did reach out to Jun at Nakamichi for a few recommendations and he responded quickly and was super helpful!

Over the years, I have owned several different brands and types of home audio systems, both wired and wireless. When I searched for a new home audio solution, I had some specific criteria in mind. First, it had to be wireless. Secondly, it had to rival wired home audio systems with the ability to expand to add additional speakers. Also it had to support Dolby Atmos of course and connect via e-arc to integrate with my TV and other video devices. As I did my extensive research, I considered all of the usual suspect brands and ran across Nakamichi while doing a web crawl. There were so many positive reviews about the Nakamichi audio solutions, and now I know why. The Nakamichi Dragon truly brings the theater home. It truly is the most immersive audio wireless solution I have ever experienced. The Dragon is the true beast because you can expand the system for up for four subwoofers.If you live in a home with shared walls with others, be warned, this system will have a LOT of bass. It will rattle windows and walls and your possibly your neighbors two doors down. For me personally, the Dragon sounds BETTER than the movie theaters. The sounds float around the room. When I hear a helicopter in a soundtrack, I question if a on the soundtrack or the real thing outside. Spoken dialogue is crystal clear over top of the even the most intense background tracks. I have played several movies and heard things I never knew were even in the soundtrack before. It is like experiencing those movies again for the first time. Music plays so well on this system. I have only heard a few songs so far, but every one sounded stellar. The only thing the Dragon does not offer is true Wi-Fi connectivity and Apple Play. For me, personally, it was not a big deal. The Dragon is wireless and does have Bluetooth and plenty of connection port options so you use just like a home audio receiver in that regard.Let's talk about physical sizing of the Nakamichi speaker cabinets. Nakamichi goes BIG. The Dragon 8" subwoofer weigh in at 34 pounds each and the dimensions of the subwoofers and are 20.9" tall, 12.5" wide, and 11.2" deep. The Dragoon 12" subwoofer physically weighs in at a whopping 80 pounds each and are 18.1" high, 20.1" wide, and 16.9" deep. Even the Dragon surround speakers are hefty at 12.5 pounds each and are 15.8" high, and are 18.1" in octangular cabinet shape. You will be able to hear the audio difference between the 12” subwoofer and the 8” subwoofer. They just capture frequencies differently and have different base response. The 12” is just deeper. You can experience it for yourself. With the Dragon, by adding the additional subwoofers, you can now use Inferno mode. This will give you greater granularity of the highs and the lows because the additional subwoofers are manufactured differently for frequency response. In addition, you get Adaptive Height Dispersion with the Dragon. The mobile application of the remote control of the system, available for both Apple and Google, provides a software version of the physical remote control. You can customize everything in this with the remotes and the on the screen display is great. I will never go back to another brand for home audio.Not a pitch, but remember, if you purchase it for the use in continental U.S. from the Nakamichi shop store, you have up to 45 days to see if you like it in your home. Amazon and other certified vendors may give you a thirty day or less trial period and I am not sure about their return policy or restocking fees.

This beast continues to stomp out the flames of other soundbars! The Dragon continues to improve with each new firmware update. Atmos soundtracks reach even higher in Ultra mode and with the new 12” subs, the Bass delivers even more punch that you can feel! This Dragon has wings and continues to fly high above the competition! There is no mistaking the sound that comes from this beast! Thanks Nakamichi! Keep this Dragon roaring!!

This thing ROCKS! Got the dual 12" subwoofer option and this thing hits hard! Had to turn down my sub volume because even plain 'ol TV stations would rock the house. Even commercials. LOL. Dolby Atmos is like being in a theater. I've gone through 2 other soundbar systems, both of which failed in someway or another and there was absolutely no bass at all from them, even with Atmos. I only have one issue and that is I cannot exit out of Onscreen Programming, for some reason or another. However, Nakamichi support has been awesome at responding to this issue and are working on it. Apparently not everyone is having this issue, since it seems new to them. They had me email a video of what it is doing and they have responded to my emails within 24 hrs, usually sooner. Not a huge issue for me, since once I setup the system using OSD, I almost never go into it again. I use the handy app which allows pretty much anything I want to change on the fly. A little forewarning, this thing is HEAVY! I had to have help just moving the subwoofers into place and the soundbar isn't much lighter, but it is made of metal. Everything feels solidly built from the bar to the surround speakers. If you can afford to fork over some pretty big bucks, I would highly recommend. As others have said, no other soundbar/entertainment systems compare. Oh yeah, even the remote is metal. LOL. Oh, and I did upgrade the firmware to the latest, using the included thumb drive and it updated flawlessly. Along with the update comes INFERNO mode which enhances the subs even more. Also, bluetooth connectivity has been exceptional (I listen to music from my phone). If I find any issues, I'll update this review. ***Update: There is no issue exiting out of the On-screen display. I failed to read the screen instructions properly and was trying to exit using the Nakamichi remote when I should have been using the TV remote. It plainly says on the screen to use the TV remote. All is great now.

Had the 8" dual dragon, just added a 12" sub to the setup.What a difference it makes, The bass has changed dramatically. You can feel the bass in your body in intense action scenes.Also the dialog seems clearer as well.This is a beast of speaker, weighs about 100lbs, but not too bad to move around once you get it out of the box.This was what the dragon system was missing, the impact and punch that the system now produces is on another level than just the dual 8".Very happy with the system since the upgrade.

There is zero distortion. The Dragon is already 10/10. Adding two 12" subs makes it an 11/10. It’s the ultimate setup for anyone who thinks "too much bass" is a myth.The new Inferno Mode isn't just a bass boost; it’s a complete recalibration of how the system handles low-end energy. By enabling Inferno Mode on a system already bolstered by two 12" subs, the crossover management becomes surgical. It’s no longer just "loud" bass; it’s controlled violence. The "kick" in the chest during action sequences has doubled. The 12" cones finally feel like they are being pushed to their true mechanical limit. We need to talk about Nakamichi’s philosophy. In an industry where other manufaturer release a "new" flagship every 12 months just to add one software feature, Nakamichi chose respect. Zero Obsolescence: They didn't release a "Dragon Gen 2" to give us Inferno Mode. They gave it to the early adopters for free via USB. Investment Security: Knowing that my $3,500+ investment is getting better with age instead of becoming a "last year's model" is why I (and many others) have become Nakamichi loyalists.

About 8 years ago, I moved on from an amazing full size home theater system, after moving into a new house, to a Nakamichi Shockwafe 9.2 system. It was ok but a huge step down from my previous system. My wife was not going to let me set up my previous system again as it was too large for our current location. After reading a ton of reviews, I took the leap on the new Dragon system but I was not overly excitied that it would be a big improvement from the Shockwafe. I was wrong. It is amazingly improved vs the Shockwafe and a wonderful compromise from what I wanted to reinstall. I got the system with the dual 12 inch subs and while they are not equal to my old SVS dual 12 inch sub, they are completely adequate in a smaller space. The biggest improvement over the shockwafe though is the clarity of the audio. So much easier to hear what people are saying during both the news and movies and far more adjustment available for each specific situation.

I started off with the 2-8’s and thought wow, purchased 1-12, and ran 3-subs and that actually is all I needed to have the hands down best system, and I’ve had several to draw my reference from. Well I ended up buying a 2nd 12” and so I’m now at 4- subs in total and it’s AMAZING. As I mentioned earlier I could have stopped at 3 because 1 12” is all that I feel is needed, but 2 12’s just puts a big smile on my face when me and the wife are watching ANY show, movie, or even a commercial !!! It hits so hard now that you feel it hitting your body and surroundings. It gets an A++ from the Jones’

The 8” subs was good but the 12” subs make the movie theaters sound system seems like child’s play. When I read reviews that you can feel the bass, I was thinking “ok” just like any other subwoofer, but this bass is something I never experienced before when watching movies. With the Dragon you can hear and feel different peaks and tones that other sound system can’t hit. If you have the money, then don’t hesitate to get the 12” subs. It’s well worth the money. The quality of the material and the technology in the sub actually is worth more than what it sells for, don’t believe me? Do the research and thank me later!

I picked up the Dragon shortly after launch, and when the 12-inch sub expansion dropped, I had to complete the setup. Out of the box, the two 8-inch subs already handled business tight, authoritative, and perfectly integrated with the bar. But when I added the 12-inch for that extended low-frequency reach, it took the system to a whole new dimension. It’s not just louder it’s deeper, smoother, and more cinematic. In my current room, there’s absolutely no reason to add another unless I’m trying to blow a hole through the living room wall. The Dragon is a showcase of modern acoustic engineering. The 11.4.6 configuration throws an enormous 3D soundstage, powered by discrete amps for every channel. The quad sub design is genius wireless, yet perfectly timed, avoiding the “lag” you sometimes get with lesser systems. I spent a while fine-tuning every parameter to maximize the soundstage in my room. The result is an enveloping field where explosions roll through the floor, raindrops hang overhead, and dialogue stays locked front-and-center no matter the volume.The Dragon isn’t just a soundbar it’s a home-theater monster disguised as one. Every detail feels premium, from the build to the interface to the goosebump-inducing sound. With the 12-inch sub in the mix, it’s like adding a secret weapon: precision meets power.The Dragon roars, but the 12-inch sub makes it thunder. Once you hear it dialed in right, you’ll never go back to anything less.

As a lifelong movie and music fan, I've always wanted to bring the experience of being at the movies to my home, and the Dragon with the 12 inch subwoofers after years of searching i think is it. This is the system that I think I will be sticking with for the unforeseable future. I’ve listened to tons of different soundbars but most of them were just what I would consider a good to great but not true cinematic experience. The moment I first listened to the system, I could tell the difference was night and day. The sound wraps around you 360 degrees, making you feel like you're part of the set. The most incredible part, without a doubt is the bass. I’ve experienced loud bass before. But this? I was feeling it in my chest, my floor, everything. I’ve never felt sound and pressure like that before. They add a powerful, physical dimension to the sound that is so unique, I don’t think its something I can really describe > it’s just something you have to listen to. For movies, the detail is stunning. I've rewatched so many of my favorite films and heard things I never noticed before. The system makes it so you can hear the smallest details, like footsteps getting closer or a whisper on the other side of the screen, with perfect clarity. The sound is so seamless that you can track movement across the room, which makes every scene feel incredibly real. Beyond movies, this setup has made my music collection sound phenomenal. The bass is not just loud; it's clean and punchy, giving every song a new level of depth and energy. It's like hearing my favorite albums in person. The surrounds give you the edge for gaming. In the middle of a battle in Call of Duty, I could track enemies by sound alone, glass shattering behind me, shells dropping at my side. And when the 12 inch subs kicked in, it felt like the room itself was taking damage. While a setup this powerful might seem intimidating, it was surprisingly straightforward to get everything up and running. The wireless design means there are no messy cables to deal with, and the remote and on screen display give you all the control you need to finetune the sound to your personal taste. Although a pricey system , It's an investment that pays off with every movie night and every song. If you have any doubt, just buy it, you will be floored.

Lots of high points. Ordering was easy and the sale prices were consistent. Order of the system and two 12” subs, center channel wall mount, and rear stands came in quickly and no packaging damage. Unpacking was easy with no damage as everything was very well packed. Set up was extremely easy - all connected up as advertised. Took some room measurements, entered in my data and was off and running. Right off was how clear the dialog was. I’ve been getting used to running CC on my Sonos ARC because just couldn’t make out the dialog. Huge improvement from anything I’ve heard, including my expensive Paridigm AV set up from my old house. Second was how amazing the bass is on the system. Even at low volume levels, you can hear and feel it. Third was how clean the installation is. My Nvidia Shield and Magnetar UDP800 both hook up directly to the main Dragon unit and all else is wireless. I’m a big music fan and have found myself listening to some music and sounds very nice. Lastly, the entire package is just cool. The awesome orange branding in the subs, the large well build main unit and even the stands have DRAGON spelled out on them. I smile everytime I sit down to watch content. Some people comment that the system gets too loud. I appreciate the quality of sound at normal listening levels and that only gets better as you turn up the volume! I have turned down the bass when listening at higher levels by myself. Complaints are few. There was not a set up for my Magnetar UDP800 on the website and my dialog was running ahead of the video. Was able to modify that in the Dragon set up, but have never experienced that before. There is also no reason that this product doesn’t have over the air software updates. I did load the new firmware, but really?? While the sound is very immersive, I can’t sat that I can specifically hear the Atmos sound coming ceiling. Might just be the terrible content even on the 4k discs, but not really a complaint as the sound is just everywhere. I highly recommend the system and the two 12” subs are a must. You won’t regret the purchase and soon you’ll be having a full theater experience at home.

I've had many systems over the years...whether it's been car audio or home theater...I tried numerous sound bar setups. First because of the simplicity of the set up and second because I value a clean look without the mess of wires everywhere.. I was beginning to lose hope recently when I couldn't get the sound I was looking for out of any competitor set ups.I play my systems loud and I like a lot of bass but also want clarity. Then I stumbled upon the Dragon sound bar... Believe me I did extensive research...comparing prices ,sound and subwoofer capacity..The Dragon system is not cheap and I was definitely weary at spending the money. I made the purchase( purchase 1 of the first 500 units) and when the unit arrived at my door it was heavy duty.and.packaged well. The setup was a breeze and and music was flowing from this unit very quickly ...The sound was good .The highs were crisp and the surrounded speakers worked well. I was a little disappointed in the bass .I felt it could not keep up (had the quad 8 inch) .I was still happy with my purchase but yearning for more. Then Dragon released the 12 inch woofer to add to the system. I quickly bought 2 woofers to add to the existing quad 8 inch and that's when the Dragon 🐉 began to really breathe fire. It was like night and day and once again the set up was a breeze. Now when I play my set up it's more like a concert or actually being inside the movie...Every time I'm playing this unit whether it's a Sunday morning watching football or watching music videos it brings a smile to my face and probably a frown to my neighbors. In closing it costs to floss but if you have the money ,I recommend the Dragon over any sound bar in the market. You won't be disappointed and the unit I'm sure will be breathing 🔥 for years to come....

Serious power and quality. I have over 20k invested in an AVR Klipsch/Emotiva 5.1, and the Dragon will compete at that level. For movies, it's the best Atmos system I have heard and is even on par or better than the movie theatre. The two 12s sub are no joke.

THE DRAGON 🐉 PLEASE READ! Nakamichi Dragon with dual 12's is the Best home theater set up I've ever owned! Hello everyone, I’ve been a Nakamichi fan since before the Shockwafe SSE. Let me tell you right out of the gate that the Dragon is a huge step up in both power and immersion and the bass from the dual 12's is mind blowing. If you’re on the fence, the Dragon is on a whole different level! I’ve been enjoying my Shockwafe for years, but I had been wanting to do an upgrade to my home theater setup and I was starting to think about upgrading to a full blown receiver, a separate AVR, and so on, because I honestly didn’t believe a soundbar could get much better than what I already had. However, the complexity of that kind of setup (doing the research, finding the right receiver, positioning multiple speakers, and especially running and trying to hide wires) really put me off. Considering how simple my previous Nakamichi system was, and recently hearing about the launch of Nakamichi's new Dragon and after reading more about it and watching videos and reviews and reflecting on how well Nak had served me up to this point I decided to purchase the Dragon with dual 12" subs! Right out of the box, the first thing that caught my eye was the sheer size and upgraded design of the Dragon compared to the Shockwafe. The main bar and surround speakers have a crazy awesome design and look great! The dual 12” subwoofers look absolutely massive and have an awesome look to them and I swear they look just like REL subwoofers kinda like an S812 $3000 unit. The subs are not ported but are a bass reflex design which is a much better and similar to getting double the output from each subwoofer! The entire system just screams “premium.” Once I fired it up, I was greeted by a new LED display on the soundbar that’s clearer and super sharp, a nice surprise and definitely dimmable to 0. One of the biggest advantages (and reasons I chose to stay with a soundbar rather than go full AVR) is the easy setup. I had the dragon unboxed, positioned, and ready to go in well under 1.5 hours taking my time. It was all double boxed and once i got it all out it was basically plug and play. Dragon even has a built in fully customizable on-screen menu now, something that was missing from the previous Nakamichi systems. This makes it simple to tweak settings for your room without the guesswork of manual adjustments or endless trial and error. And you can even customize the entire DRAGON system to match up perfectly with the size of your room. Also a nice touch that it has is settings for bass adjustments separately from subs volume! Of course, the most noticeable upgrade is the bass. This is the REAL deal for me was with the two 12” subwoofers, the lows are deeper, tighter, and hit harder and cleaner than ever before it’s insane! The bass carries more authority throughout my room, making everything from explosions in action movies to subtle atmospheric rumbles feel more realistic. The subs feel like they move my floor and walls but the bass is so clean that there are not rattles just super hard clean hits. The Dragon subs are on another planet literally. Another improvement I’m loving is how the surround sound algorithm has evolved. You can tell Nakamichi put a ton of R&D into perfecting the Atmos effects. Even scenes I’ve watched dozens of times feel brand new because the directional cues and ambient noise are so much more precise and the rear speakers also definitely pump. Dunkirk was my first test run, and hearing those planes buzzing overhead was so immersive it felt like I was right in the cockpit. The clarity in the gunfire and explosions was astounding, one of my biggest takeaways again is how hard and clean the bass hits with the dual 12's. I'll definitely be re-watching more movies like this! The new AMT drivers and improved center channel also take vocal clarity to another level. Dialog doesn’t get lost during chaotic scenes, everything sounds richer and more present. Even music moments within my movies feel like a concert, with cleaner highs and fuller mids. It’s night and day compared to my previous systems, and honestly, I doubt an AVR based setup would be much simpler than hooking up the Dragon The Dragon’s remote is obviously redesigned and way better and has larger, color coded buttons and bluetooth functionality. No more pointing it at weird angles and pressing the buttons multiple times to get the system to respond, I can literally aim it anywhere in the room, and it works flawlessly. The brighter backlit keys are super helpful at night, and the overall build just feels more modern. As far as the price goes: I’ve seen comments from people who are hesitant to spend extra on the Dragon. I totally get it...money matters. But, in my opinion, Nakamichi has truly delivered on what customers have been asking for: better algorithms, stronger drivers, a newly designed remote, and bigger customizable subwoofers. It’s a substantial upgrade on every front. As someone who has used their older systems extensively, I can confidently say it’s worth the investment and you won't regret it once you watch your first movie. Especially when you consider how it spares you the headache of a more complex AVR/speaker setup and wires - that also costs more. All in all, I am on a major high with this new Dragon dual 12” setup. It has reignited my fun for watching movies and going back and rewatching multitudes of my favorite movies because everything sounds better than ever! It's crazy! If you’re undecided, my advice is to just go for it and test it out. I doubt you’ll regret it, it’s such an impressive piece of audio gear that I’m already wondering how Nakamichi will ever top this in the future! So now that I have two Dragon systems I have to give you my thoughts on the new quad 12” subwoofer configuration. I am not an audiophile, I have always loved music. I've played it listened to it and lived it my entire life, as lots of us do. I read reviews by likely paid critics who were anti Dragon. I can say now that I have my system dialed in it not only is the best home theater I have ever heard it is on par with the systems on top end theaters now. I love cinema, but I love the art of music even more. Music frames my life and life experiences good or not so much. Last night my wife was with her sister on a trip and I had the opportunity to really listen to my collection of music with the new Dragon system. All I can say is the critics who said it lacks musicality are just wrong. As I set in my chair rewinding my life through sound, the quality of the sound literally gave me goosebumps. I have a main stereo that is moderately priced in the audiophile communities at around 60K. I cannot tell you the last time I got that personal with my main system, which is excellent. There was no alcohol or other sense provoking drug involved as I have been battling liver cancer for two years for the second time around and am on a strictly regulated transplant list. Last night and even now as I write this I am listening to emotion and hope playing through what you have created, I feel your passion my friends. This system will go into history at least with me as legendary, listening yesterday reminds me how wonderful life is and has given me the lift even with my chronic pain to keep going. Thank you to all of the dedicated employees at Nakamichi who have touched me when I needed it. I hope others will see the worthy investment in their own well being.
